3 interesting things I saw this week – November 19, 2020

November 19, 2020 By Mike

Be a short-term pessimist and a long-term optimist. Socialized home ownership. Stubborn scientists win sometimes.

Save like a pessimist, invest like an optimist (Morgan Housel)

A pithy saying that makes a lot of sense. I only wish I had thought of it.

Financing the American home (Net Interest)

The history of the 30 year mortgage. I didn’t realize it is uniquely American.

The story of mRNA: From a loose idea to a tool that may help curb Covid (Stat)

As with the best stories, a few hardheaded scientists persevered despite others telling them to give up. There’s probably a Nobel prize in it for one or more of these researchers.
