How long it took the economy to recover from the past 6 recessions. The mint is ramping up coin production. Is work from home here to stay?
Nice charts and commentary discussing how long it took for key economic indicators to recover after the last 6 recessions. Note that stocks tend to recover much more quickly for recessions which happen during long term (i.e. secular) bull markets such as the 1982 – 2000 bull.
Stocks take much longer to recover at the beginning or during secular bear markets (e.g. 2001 – 2009). Only time will tell if 2020 will be viewed as a recession during a secular bull or the beginning of the next long term bear.
Every major government action has unintended and unforeseen consequences and the economic lock down earlier this year was no different. This is one of the more interesting impacts I’ve seen to date.
