To stay current with all that’s happening in the financial world and beyond, I do quite a bit of reading. Here are a few items I came across this past week I thought were worth sharing.
State-by-state guide to taxes on retirees (Kiplinger)
Most of these types of state rankings put too much weight on income taxes. I like that this interactive map also takes into account property and sales taxes, which gives a better picture on the overall tax impact.
Can the economy predict the next president? (LPL Research)
For all the political posturing, it’s interesting that the health of the economy has predicted 16 of the past 18 re-election races. In general, if the economy is good, most people vote to keep the status quo.
Who said money can’t buy happiness? According to this list backed by science, happiness can result when money is spent in certain ways. While I think a couple of the items on the list are trivial (i.e. don’t buy extended warranties), there are some great tips here.
